"Its Just Hocus Pocus"

So I've been kinda busy lately, and here's what I've been doing!
1. I saw hocus pocus at the Varsity theatre yesterday. It was great! when we got there the tickets were all SOLD OUT! so we were all sad, this guy had one extra ticket, but as there were three of us, one ticket just wouldn't cut it. Then we overheard these girls talking about having these extra tickets, so they had two and then Abby went in, found the guy who offered us that other ticket and we all got in for free!

2. Animation class! I have to spend a TON of time drawing people outside class. I need to fill up ten sketchbook pages per week just doing observational life gesture drawings, meaning I have to sit in the library or the Canon Center or wherever and draw unsuspecting passers-by. Its kind of awkward because I feel like a creeper, staring at people or whatever. However, while perusing the books on the fifth floor of the library, I found all these books that look so ancient! really I looked at a few and I can't be sure, but they look like they're from the 1800s. There are no copyright dates on them but they were published during that time and one of them LOOKED like it had the signature of the author or somebody in a really flourished handwriting, that people don't have anymore and it also looked like straight from the inkwell kind of ink. Cool right? Anyway, back to my original point, We animated bouncing balls. Mine was good, except the second bounce didn't follow the arc quite right. I'm redoing it and I'm going to reshoot it tomorrow sometime. Hopefully.

3. Ward Halloween Party! Last saturday was my ward's halloween party. I went as a hippie. At the time I was way pissed off because no one was helping me with my costume, everyone was just helping Chanel and Abby find stuff at DI because, I dunno everyone likes them more than me because Chanel is funny and everything even sometimes it gets a little old or whatever.  ANYWAY I was mad and I was so about to not even go to the Ward party because I thought my costume would be lame. but it turned out alright. I went to the ward party for about 10 minutes, and left and went...

4. Bowling with Tanner and Hyrum! The way fun boys from Merrill Hall. These were the same boys that were in the group I played all those games with those times back in September. It was fun bowling in a hippie costume, and they are way fun guys to be around. There was this other girl there from BYU-Idaho too that was friends with Tanner, and she was cool too. I didn't do so well at bowling but it was ok because it was fun. Then Hyrum had to leave to go do homework, and Tanner, that other girl whose name escapes me and I all walked over to Wendy's and met up with those other girls who were friends with Tanner and were also there those game nights. Then we walked over to Yozone, which is this great self-serve frozen yogurt place. They weigh your yogurt by the ounce. its 32 cents per ounce which isn't bad. Then we walked back to the dorms and I stood outside talking to Tanner for a bit and Jeremy was there too, he came over from this game of red rover they were playing in the dark. It was way nice.

I dunno. I feel like there's more to say but I can't think of anything right now.

Bad Day

Ugh today has been kind of a bad day. I'm so not happy.
To start, I woke up kind of late. I was WAY tired and my eye was hurting again. So I went to class but I didn't enjoy it barely at all because I was preoccupied with my eye hurting
So then, after Book of Mormon I THOUGHT my animation class was going to start. Its a tuesday/thursday class and today's wednesday, but my schedule said it started today so I went there, and these kids were in the room and were all "Yeah thats not this class. You missed it, it happened at 9" Which is retarded because that conflicts with my other schedule and i got an email months ago saying the class changed to 1-2:50 room F230 in the HFAC. I'm 99% sure I'm supposed to show up tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.
Anyway so, my schedule for the day being a lot cleared up, I went to the student health center so get my eye checked out. The nurse practitioner woman said it looked like a corneal abrasion that followed the line of my iris which is weird because I don't wear contacts So I had to get some more eye meds. I had a corneal abrasion last year too. this SUCKS! except last year it hurt way worse. but really. this is getting ridiculous.
so then I was way hungry and ate all alone and I was bummed because there was no animation class, and I had a corneal abrasion and now I have to go to class.
I'm not having a good day. At least I have a good excuse if it turns out there was animation class today at 9. I can be like, "I had a corneal abrasion and I was getting that checked out"

Life.

ok let me tell you about my life in the past two days.

Yesterday I went on a date with Jake. It was a double date which alleviated the awkwardness a little. Sorry I didn't take any photos. So we went out near the volley ball courts and we made attempted to make giant soap bubbles with dishwashing liquid, since Jake couldn't find legit bubble soap. It was pretty fun and we got a couple big bubbles out of it. Then, we went to Legends Grille and had dinner, it was pretty good they take a long time to get your food but whatever. Anyway it was fun the boys kept talking about some comedian I'd never heard of though but whatever. Anyway, the other boy is a member of the astronomy club and there was like a thing in the Eyring Science Center and we saw this thing about all the stars and like right at the beginning when it got all dark, Jake like tapped me and was like "Meredith you're really pretty" and I'm like "Um Thanks" Haha I think I suck at taking compliments. So then we looked at all the constellations and whatnot, which was dumb because of course they showed like, ALL the stars so it was really hard to see even the familiar constellations. Then there was a little break and we waited around and then saw october sky, about this kid who's dad was a coal miner and he was probably gonna be a coal miner, and then he saw sputnik and got inspired to build rockets, and won the national science fair or something, and this his dad became proud of him and he went on to work for NASA. It was weird cause we had to watch it on the ceiling of the planetarium. During the movie there was this one part where the Jake Gyllenhaal's friend was like, telling him how to do that move where you put your arm around the girl and he tried that but it was not even smooth cause he like, whacked me on the top of the head. So it was like, joke-y.

Then we walked back to Hinkley Hall and played foozball and chatted a bit. When he walked me back to my dorm, he was like rubbing my arms cause it gets really cold at night and I had no jacket and then he went to hug me goodnight and was like, swinging me around and so was making it linger was longer than necessary. I dunno I am not really a touchy person. I don't even really like hugging my friends or anything. So I dunno it was weird. He so is going to ask me out again cause he was hinting about it.

Tonight I saw Divine Comedy with this dude Jeremy and that was funny. I didn't think it was like THAT funny but it was alright. I'm used to Dave Chappelle sketches and Russell Peters stuff which are way funny. Then I came back and this girl was like "wanna go to a bonfire?" and I was like "I dunno" and then she said hot Taylor was there and then I was like, of course I wanna go. So we went meaning me, Chanel, Abby and Rachel and we found everybody and it was kind of embarrassing because I go and say hi and trip over something. I've been really clumsy lately I dropped my phone last week and the corners got a little scratched, and I trip over stuff all the time. Its kind of pathetic I guess. Anyway Taylor was kind of obnoxious, he would keep saying how much he hated the things we liked and he kept telling Rachel how much he hated her like best friends growing up. I think thats really horrible. On the car ride home we were talking about stuff and he kept saying how much he thought what we liked was stupid and everything. By the end of the night I was getting really disappointed. I mean he seemed really nice and everything but I guess he isn't. It totally bummed me out big time.

I feel like I'm in kind of a gloomy mood. I'll probably be like this for a while, unless something makes me happy. Like hot taylor saying "I was lying about all the stuff I said I hated and you're really cool and way prettier than my tv star ex girlfriend and I won't be such a snob" Psh Yeah right.

popular!

I feel as if I suddenly became popular or something. The other day, another boy asked me to go to a comedy show with him on saturday. So now I have a date on friday, and kind of another one on saturday.  Now all I need is for the guy in my sociology class to ask me out... I pretty much have a huge crush on him. I want to friend him on facebook so bad, but I don't want to seem like a creep stalker because we only have one mutual friend and I was looking especially hard for him or something...

ARt!
so I colored a lot of this thing with hi-lighters and they didn't scan well. at the bottom where it says "love" in real life its much more vibrant, same with everything else that looks like the colors have been bleached out.

Taste the Rainbow

Man I love skittles. Anyway, weather is getting frigid out here. It was snowing on saturday and a couple flakes are falling today. Its so weird. Its only october, and the temperature is in the 30s

So I went shopping, bought some new skinny jeans, a couple of t-shirts, a headband and some hair clips. Good stuff.

I am so exhausted I stayed up till 1:30 or later trying to study for art history and then trying to finish my Book of Mormon reading, and then I had to wake up especially early to type my page on the most significant verse.

Anyway, so last night at ward prayer somebody asked me out! This is practically the first time anyone ever asked me out. His name is Jake and he's from Texas. It was cute he comes up to me and is like "Hey I realized I don't have your number!" And I was like "Oh yeah...Do you want it?" So I gave it to him, and then the ward business sort of took over, in a lull in the activity, he asked if I was afraid of heights and I said not really. After that was over, he was like "I was wondering if you would like to go somewhere this weekend, like rock climbing," and I was like "sure," because I've been climbing before at Calleva or whatever for some mutual thing. Anyway, he was said something to the effect of "depending on how warm it is outside, we can either go rock climbing or do something fun involving giant soap bubbles" which to me sounds cool because bubbles are sweet. And then he said "So we can make it like a date...?" And I said sure, and he said he would get another couple and make it a double to alleviate the awkwardness and then he said he'd been wanting to ask me for a while and  he just didn't because he didn't have my number.

I think thats so nice because no one really ever asked me out on dates except this one weird boy and a couple of nerds, but this time a cute normal boy said he's been wanting to ask me for a long time and that makes me happy. maybe I'm not cursed after all. I kinda want this hot boy in my Sociology class to ask me out, but I dunno if he ever will so I'm not gonna grow old and die waiting for him so what the heck? May as well go on a date with Jake. I mean he's nice and pretty cute so why not? I did dance with him at the ward social thing where we learned country swing. he was the best partner because he was the one that was least confused.

I'm gonna die of exhaustion I need to write a paper about the bushmen  due on wednesday, 7 pages I only have 1. UGH!

And my art history test=no fun! the essay took forever she had us put too many examples so I was crunched for time and I had no idea about a bunch of the multiple choice, because I was focusing on the art themselves more than the actual sites of excavation. I hope I didn't totally fail it. Its probably a good sign I'm worried. Every time I think I fail I always get a good grade, so we'll see. Maybe I was a lucky guesser this time.

A million surveys

So BYU keeps emailing me surveys to do which take forever and a day to do. Like, this Book of Mormon one which is 107 questions, and I don't know how many are left I just finished and now I can get a $5 gift card to the BYU Bookstore. Snazzy. I also am taking another survey which asks you how you spend your time and you become eligible to win $250 to the BYU bookstore, which will be nice come next semester. Speaking of the bookstore, I need to buy some stamps so I can mail off my absentee ballot request form...

I also got this email that leads you to this website . Spooky right? and then you click on the thing at the bottom that says "Tunnels" and that leads you to a website that just has a lot of static and a countdown and it says "The Tunnels are Haunted" I wonder what's happening in 21 days? That's almost Halloween... If its something Halloween related I'll be so happy because I think Halloween is so fun.

Anyway, Conference was cool, much better in real life. It was sorta annoying at dinner though because I was by far the youngest person so these ladies were all talking about mammograms and cholesterol and stuff and I was dying. Then they started showing me photos of grandkids and stuff. So Fun! Not.

Apparently according to weather.com and the weather thing on the mac dashboard, its supposed to rain/snow on saturday!!!!! I was checking it in class and I like, gasped. Luckily there were a bunch of really annoying loud girls behind me that sorta muted that exciting gasping sound I made. But really I LOVE snow!!!!!! It never even was SUGGESTED that there might be snow so early in the year. How cool is that?!

In Sociology we went to this website www.oracleofbacon.org and did this thing where you can connect even the most obscure actors with Kevin Bacon using the 6 Degrees of separation. Its a pretty interesting thing, considering the people I know, who know people I'm practically famous! But not as famous as the guy that sits next to me, Apparently he dated some chick who was in that Nickelodeon show, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. The girl who played Missy Meany. (!!!)

Ok so I know its only the first day of october, but the anthropology catalogue came in the mail and I've been seeing a ton of completely adorable things out there so I've decided to start my Christmas Wishlist! Granted I know for sure I won't get probably anything on this list because it would add up to be around a million dollars. Ok not really but stuff from anthropology is super expensive so I'm not expecting it. I just want to have everything down in one place so I can look at what might have been...
